Here with is our story...
My wife, Jane and I spent 10 wonderful days at Allegro Punta Cana in March of 2004. This was a return trip because we had had such a tremendous time in 2002 at the same resort. How could we have imagined that the new First Club would enable us to even surpass our previous experience. Every year we create lifelong memories at Occidental Resorts.
So, I came up with the idea of visiting the Grand Flamenco to see if that resort might tempt us in the future. I was SURE I had seen it in the distance when we took a beach/horse trail walk during our first visit. I convinced my wife that we should walk the beach to the Grand Flamenco, also an Occidental resort. ( you know, "stay here, play there") I talked to Hector and Juan, our very attentive concierge staff. They had not heard of anyone doing this before, so told us to be prepared for an extensive walk.
We started out one Caribbean Perfect morning at 9:00 a.m. and brought extra water bottles and some snack food in our backpack. We come from Maine, and back home we would say "we walked a WICKED long time!". It took us until 1:15 p.m. to get to the Grand Flamenco! Now I must admit, we stopped to toast the "President" more than once. I found out that if you wear long sleeves, or keep your bracelet concealed you can grab a beer or two at the beach bars of "lesser" resorts.
But we truly spent most of that time walking...BAREFOOT on heavenly Caribbean beach. Our legs became a little tired, but, as I said to my wife, "our legs are killing us in paradise." The Vacation Club people greeted us warmly at the Grand Flamenco. We ate, drank, rested poolside, and, yes...we took a taxi back to the Allegro. This was one of the greatest vacation adventures of our life. Hector and Juan said that this was truly an historic event at the First Club. They couldn't believe we walked that long and, to their knowledge, no one else has. This trip was one for the record book at the Allegro Punta Cana, and, by the way...we upgraded to Platinum Plus!
